Arrival and orientation

- 매주 월요일에 프로그램이 시작하며, 봉사자들은 오리엔테이션 전날인 일요일까지 도착해야 한다.

- SAN 샌디에고국제공항으로 올 경우, 공항에서 로컬팀대표들이 맞아주며, 숙소까지 동행할 것이다.

(일요일 도착할 경우, 오전8시부터 오후8시까지 픽업가능)

 

- 미리 샌디에고로 도착할 경우 샌디에고 CBD에서 픽업도 가능 

 

- 오리엔테이션은 아침에 진행(모든 프로그램 과정 설명, 봉사자들끼리의 소셜라이징 시간 포함)

Volunteer schedule example

First day

Your first day of volunteering in the USA is taken up by a program orientation, which includes a visit to your project placement to meet the staff you’ll be working with. From there, you’ll start your volunteer work.

Weekdays

Volunteer schedules are varied based on the organization you’re placed with and the time of year. Usually volunteer days range from 3-5 hours. A typical volunteer day may look like:

7:30 AM	Self-serve breakfast at the volunteer accommodation.
8:00 - 9:00 AM	Travel to placement to join local placement staff and begin work on your project.
12:00 - 1:00 PM	Lunch break.
1:00 - 5:00 PM	Work at the project typically ends between these times. Use your free time to either travel back home, sightsee or do some shopping. In the evenings you are free to use as you wish. Most volunteers head out together to get dinner and enjoy the city.

Meals

Volunteers are provided with breakfast foods delivered to the hostel. Volunteers will be able to choose from foods including cereal, granola, toast, eggs, fresh fruit.

Important things to note

• All programs attract a Registration Fee of $299 in addition to the Program Fee. This covers all pre-departure support services.
• A 5% international banking fee is added at point of payment.
• Additional things to budget for include: Visa, flights, travel insurance (mandatory), vaccinations, criminal background check, some meals, public transportation to and from your placement each day and return to the airport when your program finishes.
• Recommended spending money: Volunteers in San Diego generally find US$200 - US$300 per week to be sufficient for expenses, such as lunches and dinners, and local tours and activities.

IVHQ follows best practice and industry-leading health and safety procedures, which are regularly reviewed and optimized as part of the B Corporation recertification.
